Zionists, Proud Boys attack University of Chicago encampment
Anti-Palestinian demonstrators charged the encampment at the University of Chicago on May 3rd.
A group of Zionist and Proud Boys held a rally just outside Harper’s Quad before they attempted to storm the Gaza solidarity encampment.
At 12:21 PM, the Zio-Proud Boys Charged at the encampment while Chicago police and University of Chicago police stood by for approximately 40 minutes. The group never breached the encampment as the campers were far more organized and prepared to defend themselves. After about 45 minutes, the groups were separated and campus police set up a barrier using their staff to separate the groups directly in the center of the quad. Some officers were dressed in riot gear.
This act of aggression enabled by local and campus police follows a similar model to the horrific violence committed against the UCLA Gaza solidarity encampment; where local authorities idly watched aggressors attack encampments in hopes that violence from the campers will erupt, giving them reason to sweep and completely end the encampment. Thankfully, the campers at the University of Chicago had different plans.
