Palestine in America is publishing its first Film Edition

Palestine in America is finalizing our first Film Edition. Ryah Aqel (she/her), cultural producer, writer, and multimedia artist, will use her expertise to be our guest editor.
In 2020, she produced Darine Hotait and Hala Alyan's TALLAHASSEE, distributed by The New Yorker. She was previously a Sundance Institute Knight Foundation fellow and a Sundance Institute Women in Film Finance & Strategy Intensive fellow.
Aqel is interested in the relationship between indigenous communities, identity and land, in Palestine and beyond. Currently, she is an Associate Producer at Multitude Films. She holds a BA in politics and Middle Eastern Studies (University of Michigan) and an MA in Near Eastern Studies (New York University).
For our final edition of this calendar year, Aqel will introduce our readers to Palestinians in the film industry we should know, such as Cherien Dabis, Rabab Haj Yahya, Nizar Wattad, Nehad Khader, Rolla Selbek, Reem Jubran, Lexi Alexander and Colette Ghunim. We will also take a deep dive into the history of Palestinian and Arab film fests in the United States.
As we have done in previous editions, we will also publish podcast episodes with in depth interviews with most of the Palestinains we are featuring.
